At the age of 86, Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki passed away this Sunday morning. While not really being a film music composer, his work and influences had a major impact in the classical world, but also a lot of film music composers, like Elliot Goldenthal and many others, were influenced by his music. His style was very well-suited for horror movies, and his work can be heard, for example, in The Shining, The Excorcist and Shutter Island.
We had the honor to attend a concert with him as the main guest in Krakow, where his music was performed, which was a very interesting experience. His unique approach to music will be greatly missed. We wish his close circle all the best.
